Side effects and adjusting your MHT: What’s normal, what’s not, and when to act

Starting hormone therapy can bring some side effects - and yes, the first signs are often boobs, blues, and bloating. Breast tenderness, mood changes, bloating, or even some unexpected bleeding are all common in the first 1–2 months. For most people, these symptoms settle as the body adjusts.

The key is knowing:

🛠️ What can be managed or adjusted
🚩 When something might be a medical concern

Sometimes the goal isn’t to remove every single symptom straight away. The focus is on finding what feels sustainable. Other times, it’s about changing the type, dose, or route of hormone therapy until we find the best fit for you.
